JULY 2018 Research Alert
This month we added four new studies to the Best Practice Database, the research repository for Best Practices, LLC. This month's new studies explore three important areas within pharma: Medical Field Teams, Patient Adherence and Real World Evidence Generation. Two of the new studies involve Real World Evidence Generation, the time-consuming and expensive process of using large sets of data to show a product's effectiveness - in terms of outcomes - in the marketplace; one of the RWE studies presents an overview of current and future utilization of key RWE study methods while the other RWE study focuses on economic studies and RWE budget. The third study presents staffing and activity benchmarks for Field Medical Teams working in the cardiovascular and/or diabetes therapeutic areas. The last study reviews Patient Adherence programs, with current data on how structure, resources and vendor management can combine to enhance effectiveness.
The new Best Practices, LLC studies listed below under Newly Added Research explore how leading companies have made their operations more effective across these different areas.

To avoid overlapping communication with same stakeholders it is critical to clearly define roles and responsibilities of different liaison types within the field-based medical teams. Best Practices, LLC conducted this benchmarking study to highlight the winning strategies utilized by leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to develop robust field-based medical teams, especially in support of new treatments in the cardiovascular and diabetes therapeutic areas. |

| Download: Understanding the Changing Landscape of Real World Evidence Generation: Overview of Current and Future Utilization of Key RWE Study Methods (5515)
Real World Evidence (RWE) is a key driver of formulary and reimbursement decisions by both public and private payers and is an important focus area for global regulators. Best Practices, LLC conducted this study to better understand the types of RWE study methods that pharma is using most now and plans to use more in the future. The study also examines the vendor traits, by RWE study type, that make for the best outsourcing partner.

| Download: Understanding the Changing Landscape of Real World Evidence Generation: Economic/Reimbursement Studies and RWE Budget (5516)
Apart from boosting internal RWE capabilities, pharma companies are increasingly using specialized RWE vendors, especially for health economic modeling and health technology assessment studies. Best Practices, LLC conducted this study to gain insights into current and future utilization; the data collection methods used, the level of outsourcing used and valued vendor traits for these two study types.
